Programming EDID Minders

*Note:  EDID minders will not program through a Cat5 extender.  If the store you're in has HDMI through Cat5 in the design (because the Showcase Wall is ceiling mounted), the EDID minder will need to be connected directly to a display for programming.

Gefen DVI Detective

Showcase Wall stores built before 2016 use the Gefen version of this part (scroll down for newer stores):

PROGRAMMING STEPS

  • With the TV on and set to DVI input, connect the DVI output of the DVI Detective to the DVI input of the TV.
  • Do NOT connect the input to the source PC.
  • Connect a 5v power supply cable to the DVI Detective (it should be somewhere under the basedeck).  The power light will come on.

  • Once you are ready to program the EDID information, switch the Write Protect switch (WR) to 'E' using a small screwdriver, or your fingernail.

  • Press the Program button on the DVI Detective to initiate the recording sequence.

  • The power LED will begin to flash, and when it turns solid again, the programming sequence is complete.
  • Switch the Write Protect switch back to 'D' to prevent the device from losing programming.
  • Disconnect the power supply cable and connect the DVI Detective input to the PC.

Kramer VA-1DVIN

Showcase Wall stores built in 2016 may use the Kramer version of this part:

PROGRAMMING STEPS

  • With the TV on and set to DVI input, connect the DVI output of the VA- 1DVIN to the DVI input of the TV.
  • Do NOT connect the input to the source PC.
  • Connect a 5v power supply or USB cable to the VA- 1DVIN.  The power light will come on.

  • Press the “Capture EDID” button

  • The ON LED turns off while the EDID information is read and stored in the VA- 1DVIN non- volatile memory. When the ON LED lights again, the EDID is stored.
  • Disconnect the power supply or USB cable and connect the VA- 1DVIN’s input to the PC.
  • Programming complete.
